School Council School Councils play a fundamental role across the York Region District School Board in ensuring student success. Rogers P.S.’s school council is actively involved in supporting student achievement through the school plan for continuous improvement. School council meets on a monthly basis. Parents and community members are always welcome to attend the monthly meetings, to join one of the committees, or to send comments and suggestions at anytime. The School Council holds its elections in September of each year and meets monthly to discuss and debate issues at the school and board level. Rogers’ PTA is a very busy and active group of volunteer parents who work hard to make the school a better place for the students. The PTA organizes hot dog and pizza sales each week, the annual Fun Fair, the yearly fundraiser, purchases materials and equipment for classrooms and outside activities, funds special events and activities and supports many of the special activities within the school. This group meets once each month and through all of their work, the PTA returns approximately $14,000 directly to the students’ classrooms.
