What Is It?
The Co-op College Diploma Apprenticeship Program combines a college diploma program and apprenticeship training.
This industry-supported program combines courses taken at college, with practical on-the-job training in the workplace. The college works with participants to help them find appropriate work placements. Participants work toward a college diploma, as well as an Apprenticeship Certificate of Qualification.
Offered at various colleges throughout the province, the program is growing to include more trades and diploma programs.
Who Can Participate?
Participants must fulfill the entrance requirements for the college diploma program and must also have the minimum qualifications to register as an apprentice in the specific trade. Eligibility requirements are different for each college and trade.
Why?
This program combines a Diploma program and apprenticeship training, which saves participants both time and money by going this route
Graduates of the Co-op College Diploma Apprenticeship Program will have:
- a solid theoretical foundation before they start their first work placement.
- practical on-the-job experience before completing all the in-school training, which makes finding long-term employment easier.
- training leading to dual certification. Participants complete both a Diploma and on-the-job training leading to the apprenticeship Certificate of Qualification.
