Prestigious Awards
Prestigious awards are highly competitive awards that usually won by high achieving students.

Criteria varies from university to university and scholarship to scholarship. - Garfield Weston Merit Scholarships for Colleges
- is a program of The Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation. It is designed to identify, recognize and reward well-rounded students and adults who intend to undertake full-time study in a two or three year program leading to a diploma at one of our participating colleges. - Duke of Edinburgh's Award
- designed to help young people develop a sense of responsibility in themselves and their community by expanding their horizons, the Award has evolved into one of the most comprehensive individual development, self-training and personal achievement programmes in the world.
This is a non-monetary award. - Governor General’s Awards
(bronze) – This is awarded to the student who achieves the highest average upon graduation from a secondary school. The Governor General's website lists the criteria for eligibility.
There is no monetary award associated with the Medal. - National Book Award Program
– The University of Toronto recognizes and rewards the very best Canadian secondary school students, regardless of which university those students choose to attend. These are students who demonstrate superior academic performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional achievement in a broad context. Each secondary school in Canada is invited to nominate one student (who is entering their final year of secondary school) on the basis of their criteria. Deadline for nominations is in early October. The Book Award is sent to the school for presentation to the student.
