This area of the Board’s website provides visitors with a variety of resources which support students in their goal setting, transitions and pathways planning for post-secondary destinations and beyond. Online Course Selection - Career Cruising
Career Cruising is an interactive career guidance and pathways planning tool designed for people of all ages. The tool can help students to find the right career, explore different career options, manage course selection online, and plan various pathways to meet the requirements for their desired career path. Grades 1-5 students will access the Career Cruising online tool through a new district account (School Username: yorkregion; School Password: careers) with the option to create their own portfolio accounts. Grades 6-12+ students are directed to sign into the site with their district assigned account. The portfolio username for students is yorkxxxxxxxxx where xxxxxxxxx is the student ID and the password will be the student’s birth date using the format mmddyyyy. All students will start their portfolios from scratch in Career Cruising. Students from Grades 8 through 12+ will perform their course selections through the Course Planner module on the Career Cruising site. Secondary School Designation
Grade 8 Students: Where you go to school is based on your home address and school boundaries (attendance areas). If you are currently attending a French Immersion or Gifted program, then your Career Cruising Course Planner has been set up at the secondary school offering the French Immersion or Gifted program serving your attendance area. If you do not wish to continue in either of these programs, please speak with your Grade 8 teacher, who will provide you with advice regarding your course selections. If you are not in one of these programs, then your Career Cruising Course Planner has been set up at the secondary school serving your attendance area. If you wish to attend a different secondary school, you must apply for a transfer and it must be approved by the school board. Grade 9 -12 Students: Your Career Cruising Course Planner has been set up at the secondary school you are currently attending. If you wish to attend a different secondary school, you must apply for a transfer and it must be approved by the school board.
