"TOGETHER WE’RE BETTER" - A Grade 7/8 Student Conference on Antiracism and Ethnocultural Equity
Consisting of 22 workshops, the conference will address and create awareness about antiracism and human rights issues, aboriginal issues, and various other issues facing our diverse student population and community. Some of these interactive workshops will examine stereotypes and allow students to explore and deconstruct messages in society and the media.

Students and staff will have the opportunity to:
- Promote antiracist education
- Recognize issues and situations related to race and ethnocultural relations
- Learn effective strategies for dealing with conflict
- Develop communication and problem solving skills
- Improve levels of trust, empathy and positive feelings for others
- Understand that all Canadians have a right to full participation in our society
Ken Thurston, Director of Education; keynote presenter Glenn Marais, Juno award nominee and an award winning singer/songwriter; secondary keynote from Itah Sadu, a storyteller and author; Kevin Fell, motivational speaker and performer who will interweave dancing, singing and music to deliver an inspirational message.
