Advanced Broadband Enabled Learning (ABEL) is a research and innovation program in partnership with York University. Aligned with YRDSB priorities, ABEL increases student achievement and well being, delivers effective and appropriate educational professional programs and curriculum resources to impact students, and supports the District’s vision for higher-order/21st century leadership and learning. Many York Region schools are participating in the ABEL program, and ABEL informs District plans for teaching and learning with technology.
ABEL strives to improve results through its networks for knowledge sharing, collaboration and its professional learning programs. Through both public and private sector partnerships and a research-based approach, ABEL integrates new and existing technologies in teaching and learning. This combination of networks, partnerships, and a focus on research drives innovative models for teaching, training and learning and creates opportunities for transformation.
