In 2007, the Ministry of Education implemented for the first time a ‘hard cap year’ in the Primary Class Size (PCS) strategy.
For the 2012-13 school year, staff continued to ensure that:
- primary classes were organized as close to 20:1 as possible to maximize funding with 90% of our K-3 classes at 20 or fewer students;
- no primary classes (including ¾ splits) were above 23;
- Junior/Intermediate classes were organized to meet the new collective agreement’s Junior/Intermediate class size average of 25:27; and,
- all classes were organized within collective agreement guidelines.
A successful PCS compliance report was filed with:
- 90% of primary classes at 20 students or less;
- 100% of primary classes at 23 or less; and,
- a Junior/Intermediate class size average of 25.27 to 1.
