Course Selection Procedure
The selection of courses for the 2008-2009 school year is the responsibility of the students in consultation with their parents/ guardians.
Students should seek advice regarding their selections from their subject teachers and the Guidance Department. Identified students are advised to consult with their Special Education teachers before making their selections. It is also recommended that ESL students speak with ESL teachers to ensure their selections are appropriate for their learning needs.
Students and parents/guardians are encouraged to consider the abilities and interests of the student, prerequisites and diploma requirements, and post-secondary goals when making course selections.
It is important to make these course selections carefully, as these choices will make up the student’s timetable for the 2008-2009 school year. Once classes begin in September, course changes will only be considered for sound educational reasons and only where there is space in an existing course. Please be aware that courses will only be offered where there is sufficient enrollment to support the program.
Students are expected to take the following number of credits: - 8 courses in Grade 9 - 8 courses in Grade 10 - 8 courses in Grade 11 - 6 courses in Grade 12 (3 each semester)
