Course Selection Procedure
THE COURSES OFFERED AT AURORA HIGH SCHOOL ARE LISTED BELOW.
The selection of courses for the 2009-2010 school year is the responsibility of the student in consultation with their parents/guardians. Students and parents/guardians should also refer to the YORK REGION DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION COURSE CALENDAR for the full description of all courses.
Students are strongly encouraged to seek advice regarding their selections from subject teachers and Guidance Services and make their selections based on their post-secondary destination. There is a 4-year high school planning sheet available in the 'Information' section.
Factors to consider when selecting courses include: - The career goals, abilities and interests of the student - Diploma requirements and pre-requisites for entrance to post-secondary schools or apprenticeships/trades
It is our belief that students should assume responsibility for making careful educational decisions. The courses you select in the spring are the courses you are expected to attend throughout the 2009-2010 school year. Once classes begin in September, course transfers and changes are considered only in extraordinary circumstances and where space permits. Therefore, you are expected to take both time and care in the preparation of your educational plan. No course will be offered unless there is sufficient enrolment to support the program.
Full-time students at Aurora High School must take the following number of credits:
Grade 9 - 8 credits Grade 10 - 8 credits Grade 11 - 8 credits Grade 12 - minimum 7 credits Returning Grade 12 - minimum 6 credits
